Interests: I love to read. Especially to start reading like 55 books at the same time...some say book ADD...I say variety...and I finish them all eventually... it just takes a little time...oh and I like to write. Nothing like a run on a nice day...and the best feeling is the sore muscle feeling 2 days after a tough workout. To counterbalance that I have a great big sweet tooth. Mainly for sweets of the chocolate variety...Ice cream is one of my alltime favorites...but I've sadly developed a mysterious lactose intolerance in recent months. Sometimes I come over to the coop late at night just to play on Mandi's keyboard when no one is around, because secret is I love to play the piano...mainly classical stuff...bc thats what I grew up learning, but I'm starting to branch out some now too... I love being around people laughing, cutting up, just hanging out....for awhile...but I cherish my alone time too. I enjoy a good conversation, but I see no necessity of every second being filled with noise,

here are some thoughts on intercession
from Life Together by Dietrich Bonhoeffer

"This brings us to a point at which we hear the pulsing heart of all Christian life in unison. A Christian fellowship lives and exists by the intercession of its members for one another, or it collapses"

"I can no longer condemn or hate a brother for whom I pray, no matter how much trouble he causes me.  His face that hitherto may have been strange and intolerable to me, is transformed in intercession into the countenance of a brother for whom Christ died, the face of a forgiven sinner. This is a happy discovery for the Christian who begins to pray for others."

"There is no dislike, no personal tension, no estrangement that cannot be overcome by intercession as far as our side is concerned"

Just finishing day 9 of 21 straight days of groups here at camp!!!! And today...yes, today was officially the first SWO river trip down the Nantahala in 2006.  (anyone who just said nanta- holla-holla in your head....i like you). Pictures to come (hopefully) of my first backflip off picnic rock for the season.  I hope this makes all you summer staffers double check with Wild Bill for the official countdown til staff training, because you know you wish it started tomorrow!

"Forgetfulness of God, and a contempt of Him, of His eye upon us and authority over us, are at the bottom of all our treacherous adulterous departures from Him"
(matthew henry commentary on Ezekiel 23:35)

When you get a chance, get your hands on a concordance of some sort and check out how many times God warns His people, "Do not forget me...." or "if you forget me"...or "in the day you forget me..."  and then check out how many times it says, "You have forgotten me," or "she forgot me" or "Israel forgot me..." etc.... Its scary....scary how soon after real encounters with God, experiential knowledge of His deliverance, His grace, His mercy, His power, His provision, His protection....It's scary how soon afterwards the people forget. It's scary how soon afterwards we forget.

SO many thoughts I could write for pages. Pardon the less than great writing skills this time around.

(P.S.  I have a bad habit of over using these "...............")

Hey all you mission-minded folks out there trying to decide what to do with your life.... at least for a summer or maybe a couple years.

Last month in Greensboro I met this incredible couple from Japan- Brian and Yoko Broaddus.  They are assistant church planters in Japan.... they have an awesome story...and God has used them in an awesome ministry in Japan....

http://www.pioneersjapan.org

You should check this out...or call me at the SWO office and I'll tell you more about them and how you can get involved.

(PS- Brian said that the stereotypical loud, outgoing, boisterous American is a plus, because the Japanese expect and are attracted to that... So... former SWO staffers....you'll be PERFECT!)
